I would like to wish everyone who lives or works in Bexley a healthy and happy 2007. We will be working as hard as we can to take the Council forward in 2007; to make it more efficient and focused on the issues you really care about.
Our number one priority will be to set a budget the Council and residents can afford and to keep next year’s Council Tax increase as low as possible. We’ll also be looking to improve the quality of our key services, while making sure value for money is at the heart of everything we do. I will remember 2006 as the year local people entrusted my colleagues and I with the task of running the Council for the next four years. We are grateful for the landslide victory you gave us. It has not made us arrogant or complacent, just even more determined to repay your faith in us.
I hope by now people are familiar with our goal of “listening to you, working for you”.
That’s what we have worked hard to do in 2006, and it’s something we are going to work at even harder in 2007. Happy New Year.
Cllr Ian Clement
Leader of Bexley Council
