David Evennett, MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, is continuing with his campaign to get access for disabled passengers at Barnehurst Railway Station. He has met with and written to representatives of Southeastern Railway, who have operational responsibility for the station, and has made representations to Bexley Council on proposals that would allow those in wheelchairs or cannot climb stairs to access the London-bound Platform 1.
Mr Evennett said “After much correspondence I believe there has been some progress. The land that could be used and the existing pathway from the ticket office are being considered”.
Discussions are currently taking place between Network Rail and Bexley Council as to the ownership and management of the pathway.
Mr Evennett expressed his hope that this access would be available for disabled passengers during 2007.
